Earlier this month we quietly pulled the curtain down on EDM.DJ. We’ve been working hard on this release for the past 18 months. We want to take a moment to talk about what we’ve been working on. We think the process of discovering new dance music is wrong. It’s too time consuming, cumbersome and difficult. Our goal is to create a fun, useful and intelligent product that makes other people’s lives easier.
The Problem
How do you decide which tracks to buy next? What tracks to play out tonight? People spend hours per day trawling through blogs, artist fan pages, DJ sets, Twitter, YouTube, SoundCloud or online retailers. They listen to everything until they find something they like. You might trust a critic or a popular chart, but the real gems are the hidden, undiscovered ones.

Our mission is to make it easier to find great dance music. We make it easy to follow the tastemakers who are skilled at discovering and recommending new releases or you can simply choose to follow your friends. In December 2010 we formed our small but energetic startup. We successfully launched a private beta in Mid-2011. We’re almost there and we should be opening the doors within the next few months. We’re very excited to show everyone what we’ve been working on.
